NWONA's Transportation & Safety Committee tackles such issues as traffic calming, safe pedestrian crossings, sidewalk construction, and works each year with Garfield Middle School on Walk to School Day.

Two years ago we assisted in the City sidewalk survey by mapping our neighborhood sidewalks. Last year we participated in a review of the City's Traffic Calming Program that resulted in making Raft, Crestline and Elliot be eligible for traffic calming devices. Additionally, we have pressured the City to redesignate Bowman, Brawne and Rogers as Neighborhood Collectors, which will be considered in 2004.
